Cycleleisure.com is a web site dedicated to self catering holidays in the Ribble Valley area of Lancashire, England. The Ribble Valley borders the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the forests of Bowland, Pendle and Gisburn. At the center of the valley is the historic market town of Clitheroe with its Norman castle, River Ribble resteraunts, shops and market. Cycleleisure is based here with a large cycle shop, fleet of hire bikes and holiday cottage.

The Forest of Bowland was designated as an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ (AONB) in 1964. It covers 312 square miles of moorland, fringe farmland, woodland and open river and reservoir landscapes. The Ribble Valley is ideal for walking and cycling holidays. The 'Ribble Way' (waymarked) 70 mile (113km) long follows the course of the River Ribble from its source at Ribblehead to the estuary at Preston; passing through a variety of landscapes including limestone gorge, open moorland and tidal marsh.

The nearby market town of Skipton, again with Norman castle, is refered to as 'The Gateway to the Dales'. Malham Cove, the Wharf Valley, and the three peaks of Pen-Y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are all within a short drive.

Gisburn Forest is the largest forest in Lancashire having a network of forest walks and a cycle trail of 10 miles (16km). Details of cycle routes with maps, route information and places of interest are available from the cycle shop. Other activities are available such as tennis, fishing, bowls, climbing, paragliding and even hot air ballooning!

Most people come to the Ribble Valley to enjoy the natural landscape of the area. Our quiet country lanes make exploration a real pleasure and with country inns, market towns and plentiful historic sites, you will have time to enjoy a variety of excursions. The slopes of Pendle Hill provide an impressive base for dry skiing and horse riding is available at several equestrian centres throughout the area. Superb golf courses exist at Clitheroe, Longridge and Whalley. The water sport enthusiast has the choice of swimming at Ribblesdale Swimming Pool or canoeing, which is available at Clitheroe Canoe Club. For the fisherman, both course and game anglers are well catered for. There are well-stocked trout and carp lakes and rivers that are fast regaining their reputation as some of the finest in the country with good runs of salmon and sea trout. Fishing permits are available from the Tourist Information Office in Clitheroe. Ordnance Survey has declared the village of Dunsop Bridge to be the official 'centre of the kingdom'. In 1992 the famous explorer Sir Ranolph Fiennes unveiled the 100,000th payphone, located by British Telecom on the riverside green in the village. The payphone's plaque actually confirms its national grid reference as S.D. 6377 5655 the United Kingdom centre. It is fortunate that Dunsop Bridge is one of the most attractive parts of the kingdom, a fitting setting for such an important location.
